Matching Program Terms

When you use your Advanta BusinessCard to make grants through Kiva.org for the benefit of business owners in the developing world, Advanta will match your grants, up to a limit of $200 per month per account in total. Here is how our matching program works.

Advanta will identify Kiva grants made by our customers using an Advanta BusinessCard on a weekly basis. Those transactions will then be reconciled to ensure that the matches are in line with the monthly limit of $200 per account. Based on this reconciliation, the match-monies will then be provided to Kiva. If your email address is known to Advanta, we will notify you by e-mail that your Kiva grant has been identified and will be matched.

Loans funded by Kiva grants are funded within 16 hours on average. Unfortunately, Advanta is not able to identify your Kiva grant in real-time. For this reason, although Advanta would prefer to sponsor a business owner chosen by our cardholder, we are not able to do so. Accordingly, Advanta will pool and provide the match funds to Kiva on a monthly basis. Kiva will then distribute the match funds in predefined increments to randomly selected business owners. Wherever appropriate, Advanta will try not to limit its matching support by industry, geography, type of project or similar factors.. However, match funds will only be provided for business owners whose loans will be administered by microfinance institutions (i.e., foreign lenders or banks) with Kiva risk-ratings of four stars or higher.

When Kiva grants made using match funds are repaid, this money will go back to Advanta - similar to what happens when your grant is repaid. While you have the option of withdrawing your own grant when it is repaid or making another grant through Kiva, you do not have the ability to withdraw match funds or use them to sponsor another business owner. However, subject to the $200 monthly limit per account, if you choose to make another grant, Advanta will be happy to match it.

These Matching Program Terms and features are not provisions of any Advanta Business Card Account Agreement, and Advanta reserves the right to change or discontinue the matching program or any of its features, or to change any of these Matching Program Terms, at any time without notice.
